Fire Extinguisher Seminar

Since 1994 the Fire Prevention Division has annually conducted a train the trainer portable fire extinguisher seminar. Those who participated are now able to return to their place of work and train other staff in the theory and practical aspect of portable fire extinguishers.

This program is the best possible way for the Brantford Fire Department to reach the business community and other agency workers. The way we do this is by bringing them into a classroom setting and teaching them the importance of being familiar with their surroundings and being prepared for anything, whether it be the use of fire extinguishers or any other general questions about fire safety.

FIRE EXTINGUISHER SEMINAR

This half-day seminar is designed for employees of facilities, which have portable fire extinguishers as part of their fire protection systems to provide the skills necessary to effectively operate a portable fire extinguisher.

Program Highlights:

  • principles of fire behaviour and products of combustion
  • classifications of fire and fire extinguishment methods
  • fire extinguisher classification and rating systems
  • using fire extinguishers the right way
  • safety procedures when using a portable fire extinguishers
