Keep Hydrants Clear

BRANTFORD, ON – February 24, 2015 – As we find ourselves locked in the icy grip of winter, the Brantford Fire Department is asking residents to take a look at the fire hydrants near their homes and clear any accumulated snow that may be obstructing them.  “It could take as little as a minute or two to clear snow from around a hydrant, but in a fire emergency that could be the difference” said Chief Fire Prevention Officer Dwayne Armstrong.  “Delays caused by trying to locate and access buried hydrants can have a huge impact on rescue and suppression efforts” continued Armstrong.  With more than 2,500 hydrants in the City of Brantford, any help that residents can provide to ensure they are clear and unobstructed would be greatly appreciated.
